Mr Puri loves to help his patients and has been in the Eyecare industry for over 25 years, practicing on various levels, he completed his Optometric and Ophthalmic training locally from West Midlands. Since then he has practiced in various specialist Eye Clinics at Wolverhampton and Sunderland Eye hospitals, as well as a number of optometry clinics and national optical Practices, including Boots, Vision Express, Specsavers, and Dolland and Aitchison.
In addition to offering a comprehensive range of general Ophthalmic Services, Mr Shakeel Puri has a special interest in Retinal Diseases and helping diabetic patients, and has done advanced training in this area. He also provides help and advice to patients with both Dry and Wet Macular degeneration. Moreover, he also takes interest in the screening and management of Glaucoma patients and specialist services for patients with Retinal Vascular Disorders.
In Addition, Mr Shakeel Puri has taken a strong interest in Children with Visual Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, Different types of Headaches, and reading difficulties. He has helped to make a positive change in the educational development of many children and continues to do so.
Mr Shakeel Puri likes to keep updated with not only the latest treatments and attends national and international conferences but also the state of the Art equipment in practice, this gives a lot of confidence to his patients, they will be looked after not only by an up to date Experienced Clinician but will have their Eyes examined with the most up to date equipment available.
Emergency Eyecare (Minor Eye Condition Service) is something Mr Puri has advanced training on and assists patients with sudden eye problems, from injuries to infections, visual loss or Red Eye or eyelids, Dry eye, gritty and uncomfortable eyes, Irritation and inflammation of the eye, Something in the eyes sensation, Significant recent sticky discharge from the eye or watery eye. Recently occurring or sudden increase of flashes and floaters, Painful eye, In-growing eyelashes, Recent and sudden reduced vision.
As a member of the local optical society, he was involved in advising the NHS Primary Care Trust (PCT), which included helping design guidelines and Clinical Governance for Optometric practices.
Mr Shakeel Puri does an enormous amount of Charity work locally and Overseas, he takes an active role in Leadership Mentoring at His Royal Highness Prince Of Wales Trust as a leadership mentor.
