Everyone’s eyes feel tired and irritated from time to time, but if you are noticing regular problems, especially if you’ve been doing a specific activity, it could be time to pay us a visit.
Dry Eyes is a condition caused by the tears you produce. You may not be making enough tears, or they aren’t a good quality – it may not sound like much, but the discomfort caused certainly can be a big deal!
There are many symptoms for your eyes, including dryness, burning, itching or stinging, blurred vision, irritation from wind, red eyes, sensitivity to light and, adversely, excessive watering.
Recent studies indicate that too much time looking at screens can make the problem worse, so time spent in front of computers and staring at smartphones can exacerbate dry eyes.
This is because when we’re looking at something like this, we blink less, which affects our tears, putting us at risk of Dry Eye Syndrome.
But we can help! If you recognise the symptoms outlined here, please make an appointment to speak to our optician – we’ll assess the problem, and devise treatment specific to your condition and circumstances.
If it is something which has caused you to stop wearing your contact lenses, we can prescribe treatment which will allow you to use them again – ask our team for details.
