Myopia
What is Myopia?
Shortsightedness. The eye is longer than normal or has a cornea that is too steep so that the light rays focus in front of the retina. Close objects look clear, but distant objects appear blurred. Myopia, also called near or short sightedness, is a refractive defect caused by the eyeball being too long, or the cornea too steep.
This leads to images being focused in front of the retina, so that whilst sufferers can see nearby objects clearly, distant objects appear blurred.
